Hello everybody.
I'm running a steady state simulation about a multiphase flow (air and water). On CFX - Solver I got this error after 16th iteration: Parallel run: Received message from slave ----------------------------------------- Slave partition : 3 Slave routine : ErrAction Master location : RCVBUF,MSGTAG=1214 Message label : 001100279 Message follows below - : +--------------------------------------------------------------------+ | ERROR #001100279 has occurred in subroutine ErrAction. | | Message: | | Floating point exception: Overflow | | | | | | | | | | | +--------------------------------------------------------------------+ Parallel run: Received message from slave ----------------------------------------- Slave partition : 3 Slave routine : ErrAction Master location : RCVBUF,MSGTAG=1214 Message label : 001100279 Message follows below - : +--------------------------------------------------------------------+ | ERROR #001100279 has occurred in subroutine ErrAction. | | Message: | | Stopped in routine FPX: C_FPX_HANDLER | | | | | | | | | | | +--------------------------------------------------------------------+ +--------------------------------------------------------------------+ | An error has occurred in cfx5solve: | | | | The ANSYS CFX solver exited with return code 1. No results file | | has been created. | +--------------------------------------------------------------------+ Do you know which could be my mistake? please help me for this... Thanks in advannce... |

thanks for reply,
I tried with the different methods which are discussed in that.. but still i am getting the errors.. i might be doing something silly mistake while applying boundry condition ..... |

I, too, have faced that problem several times. Though i am but a beginner i' ll attempt to provide a few pointers. Common causes for that said error is a bad grid, a poorly structured physical problem (irrational boundary conditions) or simply a matter of numerical precision (some problems simply need double precision, tighter convergence criterion or smaller time steps). For instance, at some point i kept getting overflow error at the very first iteration, which led me to believe that it had something to do a parameter or an initial condition. Removing/optimizing a boundary condition solved it. These matters, at least for me , are quite complex and i personally approach them by process of elimination. Also, grid is extremely important and in some cases you should avoid generating a grid automatically. Lastly, you should always check cfx-solver's diagrams to see if and how well your system is converging.

if it says slave process failed, sometimes its more happy, when you dont run parallel processes/cores. Just switch to single. Helped me a few times.
