Hello, I hope this is the right section to post my request (I'm new to this forum). I'm a university student and I should realize a project for the course of numerical fluid dynamics. The professor asked us to propose a project and I really don't know what to propose. For the project we have to build and run a simulation on FreeFEM. My question is, could you tell me some topics to propose to the professor as a project? For example, last year the study of a flow around a cylinder was carried out. The important thing is that it can be done by a novice student with CFD and (therefore something simple in 2D). I hope I have explained my request well, otherwise I can provide more data. Thanks in advance to anyone who can advise me.

How about a topic in gas dynamics where you use CFD to verify the difference in shock angle where:

1. It is a planar flow (ie. wedge)
2. It is an axisymmetric flow (ie. cone)

There is plenty of data out there freely available and the students can use OpenFoam to get their results in their digital, supersonic, wind tunnel

I thank you, I will deepen the topic and evaluate if it is feasible with my level of knowledge.
