Hey Guys, I would like to start a new carrier as freelancer.
Normally, in Europe, how much do you ask fro a simulation?
I knoe that there are lots of variable, but, I would like to have an idea.

If someone can give me some resonable number, I will appreciate a lot.

The idea is simple simulations using openFoam.

Cost:
clean the geometry
setup simulation
CPUs

set the postProcessing
create a report

Thanks a lot,
Carlo

Hi,

I'm not totally sure about it because it depends a lot on which supplier you consider.. talking about italian simulation market, I can suggest you about 50-70 euros per hour if you want to mantain a competitive price.
Keep in mind that it depends on:

- complexity of the model (if it is a simple steady simulation... the price is really lower compared with a multiphase unsteady etc etc..)
- how much you have to simplify the geometry (if someone ask you to simplify a geometry has a price, if you have to simplify a really complex geometry with a high amount of detail...)
- how many hours the simulation will run... ehi man, you're killing my workstation for one week!!!!!
- others...

good luck for your adventure!

thanks you for the answer. i thinnk that the main difference is if the geoemtry is clean or not.
I hate clean the geometry.
Thanks a lot,
Carlo

Keep in mind, that many freelancers on different sites can agree to work for 20-50 USD for a very complex assignment which may require weeks to complete task.

Although their work is trash but still dirt cheap. so many people fall into trap. Ultimately the one with good skills will be at disadvantage...

In internet (here:http://www.wolfdynamics.com/our-services/mentoring.html)
I found these values:

7 hours - 500 euro
14 hours - 900 euro

for monitoring, i.e. to check set ups and solve errors.

As a company, we tipically ask 75 Eur/hr for human labor costs (independently from the specific task) and 0.1 Eur/core-hr for computational costs.

Yet, these numbers are not written in stone. We usually use them for a first estimate and then refine and adjust them according to the specific case.

Also, for example, if we can use HPC resources from the cloud, we exactly know how much that will cost and we just charge that without additional costs.

Actually, we never charge additional costs for services taken from third parties.

However, note that we develop both our grid generator and our solvers, so we basically have no fixed costs like licenses etc.
