I know it has been done "somehow" i read the paper 'Evolution simulation of lightning dischargebased on a magnetohydrodynamics method' and they used ansys fluent to simulate a high current electric arc.
i am trying to do the same thing, i got the material properties, the MHD_module, everything seemed to be right, untill i realized that the MHD_module in fluent wouldn't allow for an electric current density as an input, the only option is to solve for magnetic field somewhere else and input in as B0. the problem is, the magnetic field depends on: TIME- no problem here. but it also depend on the electric current density, which in term depends on the electrical conductivity of the air, and the electric conductivity of the air in the other hand depends on the Temperature, so in short, the magnetic field is coupled with both heat transfer equations and time. |
