Hi,
I had been working on a combustor mesh and I wanted to have a conical density source in the flame region where coal particles enter into the furnace. After trying several different approaches,( ICEM manual/tutorial doesn't cover this topic nicely) Simon Pereira helped me with a very easy solution. I thought it might be helpful to share with others, so here is what he suggested. "First, create points... In my case, I started with 4 points (the mid points between the center of one face and the "corners" of the other) and then copy/rotated them to get a circle of points, but how you create them is up to you. Then I created my density from points and selected all these points to create my density region. I set the max size within the density to 4, the rest of the cylinder was set to 16. Then I meshed. Tada! Pictured are attached. Good luck with your model. Note, if you wanted something like a hollow cone or a torus, you could create one section of it and then copy rotate the density zone (just like other geometry entities). They can overlap without causing any problems and you can "add" up any combination of density lines, points, boxes or copies of density zones to get any final zone shape. The smallest max size wins within its respective zone. " |

Hey!
I am facing some problems with conical density region. I made a conical frustum density region for mesh refinement but the refined mesh extends beyond conical region(upto a cubical region). What could be the problem? I am using cartesian body-fitted method to generate hexa mesh. Any help is appreciated. Thank you. Last edited by shaktiy; June 14, 2018 at 11:00. |
