Hi all,

I am brand new in ICEM and I have a problem with my ICEM CFD 11.0 running in a Win32 with ATI Mobility Radeon x700 laptop. When I try to rotate and zoom the model, it gets stuck for a while (maybe 5 seconds, depending on its size and complexity), so it gets unfeasible to work with.

Does anyone know how to solve this issue?

Do you have all your volume elements on?

In ICEM CFD, you should display your shell elements in general, and use the cut plane to view your volume elements.

When the volume mesh is displayed, each element is drawn even if it is behind the shell elements or other volume elements.

A bunch was done to improve this display issue at 12.0, but it is still a good idea not to display millions of volume elements inside ICEM CFD unless they are in a cutplane.

If that is not your problem, please give us some more details on the "size and complexity" of your model. Also, what are you trying to display (model tree).

Sorry, but I was too plain in my last post. I am not refering to the model meshed. Just when I import my geometry from an iges or stp file the model is really hard to move, and it is far of a complex model, just two inlet and outlet big pipes with a distributor in the middle, which divides the flow in 58 little pipes (cooling pipes)...

It seems to be a hardware/software problem, because I open this same files in a workstation Core2Duo 2,4Ghz, 2Gb ram, nVidia Quadro and it runs smooth, but in the workstation laptop (Centrino 1,8Ghz, 2Gb ram, ATI Mobility radeon x700 256mb -drivers up to date-) it takes ages to manipulate the model (rotate, zooming, etc).

Any suggestions? Do you think upgrading to 12.0 will solve this problem? Mine is 11.0

Nope, sorry, I don't know enough about hardware... I know it has worked well on all the machines I have had over the past 8 years (my present one is a Dell Precision M4300), but I am not at all familiar with your machine.

You could contact Tech support... They have hardware people there who keep track of this stuff.

Hi again PSYMN!

At the end I could manage to fix the problem: by just turning off the option "Use OpengGL Feedback" in the Graphics Options, now I am able to rotate and zoom any model (even the more complex) at real time
