I'm a graduated student in civil engineering,so i'm not so good with icem and fluent.
Anyway,i'm testing a a bridge deck section. My idea is to study it like an airfoil. I've done a structured mesh but the analysis is too slow. so I was wandering if it possible with icem create a structured mesh(around the bridge deck for the boundary layer) and outward and unstructured mesh. sorry for the stupid question and thank for any answer |

Sure its possible... You can do it lots of ways.
MultiZone may be the most direct way for you. But you could also do a tetra hexa merge... It is actually a very open question. Look in ftp://ftp.ansys.com/outgoing/simon/ for some tips and tricks, etc. |

Hi, Simon!!
First of all I want to say your work on the forum is actually nice!! I have seen the files you put longtime ago and I find it very useful. Currently, I am trying to achieve an hybrid mesh with ICEM for external aerodynamics (flow past an ahmed body) and, up to the moment, I have a cartesian O-grid around the body and the rest of domain blocked, which I would like to mesh by using tets. Could you tell me briefly how may I do it? Thanks in advance!! Best regards, Antonio |

Sorry, ANSYS IT decided that the FTP sites were not secure enough. They switched to a secure server that requires a unique link for each download (I couldn't just post a link for anyone to pick up). I ended up posting that Tips and Tricks document on the customer portal along with the other ICEM CFD related tutorials and updates.
Students can access the portal, you just need to get your license number to create a login. You can check it with the option under the Help menu. Simon

I got so many requests for this ICEMCFD Tips&Tricks 2010 pfd that I figured out how to share it over google docs...
https://docs.google.com/open?id=0ByI...nBqTXBQT3pQMjQ Yes, it is well overdue for an update, but it can still help many of you. Best regards, Simon
