Hello,
I have a 3D STL wing that is open on both sides and not solid. In other words, it is like a shell. I want to convert it into a solid wing and take it to Design Modeler software to draw the domain and finally refer to ICEM software for meshing. How can I convert STL wing to solid wing ?

Thanks in advance.

Designmodeler cannot handle stl very well.
Better try to import this directly in ICEM and try to create a closed volume by adding surfaces. Remember, in ICEM it is not necessary to have a 3D solid. A group of (overlapping) surfaces is enough to generate a bounded volume in which ICEM can generate a mesh.

I was going to convert the STL wing into a solid wing with filled inside by a method and take it to Design Modeler and draw the domain there and then subtract the wing from the domain. Finally, I will refer to the ICEM software for meshing.
It would be great if I could directly open the wing STL file in ICEM and then mesh it.
I opened the wing STL file in ICEM but the wing and domain lines were not selectable, as if the lines were locked.I want to use a structured mesh.
How can I Mesh it ?
Regards.

Forget creating a structured mesh directly from a STL. Impossible. If you want this, then you need to reconstruct/redraw the geometry from the STL using Spaceclaim or ICEM.

I definitely need to use structured mesh for it and I have been struggling with this problem for a long time. Can you help me what exactly should I do?
I opened the STL file in ICEM, which is as follows, and all its lines are not selectable, as if they are locked.

I posted the picture here, I don't know if it can be displayed for you.
If it cannot be displayed, please tell me how to send the photo.
Thankyou

In the bottom of your screen, there is a button called Go Advanced. There you can add pictures.

I clicked the go-advance option and put the photo link from Google Drive, but apparently it still can't be displayed. I would be grateful if you could tell me how to send the photo in more detail

Don't use external links. In the Go Advanced menu there is the paperclip icon allowing you to attached pictures to a thread directly.

I opened the STL file as below in ICEM.
File -> import geometry -> Faceted -> STL
None of the lines displayed on the page can be selected.

Yes. But what do you expect me to do if you don't know how ICEM works.
Have you tried any tutorial? I'm a volunteer, not a help desk employee from ANSYS.

Nevertheless, I think (I'm not sure!):
- You have imported surfaces. Are these closed when you turn them on solid-view?
- you want an extruded 2D mesh.

If you have a surface, create lines and points, either automatically, or manually, then create a mesh on a symmetry surface and then extrude in 1 direction.
It you don't have surfaces (you imported a faceted mesh, I guess), then manually create points & lines by clicking on the edges visible. Then create surfaces from the lines then a surface mesh end then extruide.

Good luck. You might need it.

I am completely familiar with how to network in ICEM and I have already created a mesh with the structure for a wing geometry in ICEM. I did not ask for help on how to work with ICEM. I am facing the problem of meshing STL geometry in ICEM. After opening the STL file in ICEM, its lines cannot be selected to create blocks and generate mesh.
There is no solid view for me to try. I don't have any surface and I think faceted mesh is entered. Now tell me more precisely how to create the lines and then draw the surfaces ?
Thanks.

Your stl info is apparently useless. I would never use or ask for stl formats. They're the worst. Everything is better. Ask for igs, step or parasolid.
Now you need to click on the screen to create points, connect these to make a line, and create a surface between two lines. Just use the stl as guideline where to click on thhe screen. All in the Geometry menu. The required Icons are already present in the image you shared.

From this geometry you should create the blocking, but you are already familiar with that apparently.

In Blender, use the Solidify modifier to add thickness and close the open surfaces. Adjust thickness as needed.

In what software is this advice applicable ?

In SolidWorks, you can use the "Import" tool to import an STL file and then use the "Convert Entities" feature to convert it into a solid model.
