Problem with meshing in TurboGrid

Hi,
I have a problem with generating mesh using TurboGrid. I want to generate a mesh around a blade with the geometry that is created in DesignModeler. When I apply a tip clearance at the shroud tip and want to generate mesh an error appears: mesh too coarse to successfully create tip mesh. But when I disable the shroud tip option (no tip clearance) the problem solves and I can generate the mesh without any problem. What’s wrong and how can I fix it? I tried to use finer meshes but the error remains. |

Hello Safasml,
Did you correct this error by now? Because I have been getting the same problem while using Turbogrid. Did you use CAD import feature OR Export points to transfer the model from Design modeler to turbogrid? While using CAD import feature I get an error of "mesh too coarse to successfully create tip mesh" and with Export points, the error is "TEInitCrossCurveTR curve could not be created" One thing I observed is that the mesh works fine if there is sufficient Trailing edge radius or is this because I have taken the coordinates for the blade from a different source? Thank you. |

Dear Gautham
Yes, the problem was fixed by rounding the TE. The blade I wanted to mesh had a very sharp TE, so the TurboGrid was unable to create a grid around it. And in response to your next question, I exported the geometry from DM to TG. Make sure your blade's TE has an acceptable radius. Wishing to help with your problem |

Dear JOEL30
In Turbogrid, I don't believe you can change the geometry or round the trailing edge. It must be corrected in CAD software like DesignModeler or Spaceclaim. Depending on your geometry, you can round it in various ways. Using an arc, for example, is one option. The way you curve the TE doesn't matter to Turbogrid. I hope this helps. |

On thing that I want to add is that if you go to geometry and command editor then in the 'SHROUD' if you set 'Use True Surface For Projections = true' then error will come but if you set false then error is gone.
