I have been dwelling on ICEM with the centrifugal pump geometry, again. I have come to a point where I would need an expert suggestion.
First Question: This is my geometry and blocking: (Figure 1 : see attachment) I have a mesh: (Figure 2 : see attachment)) I am getting this unwanted inflation on a side. Now, I understand that it is due to the Copy parameters > to all the parallel edges while specifying the mesh size. I wanted to know if there is an option to “NOT” select one edge out of all the parameters we take (as shown in the figure below – blue highlight). (Figure 3 : see attachment) Second Question: Also, I wanted to have a inflation layer on this quarter circle. I followed the tutorials but the complex geometry is not enabling me to do the O-grid as I wanted. Do you have any suggestion to get around this? (Figure 4 : see attachment) If you need further information, please let me know. |

Hi SSapkota,
regarding question 1: Ideally the "Parameters locked" checkbox would prevent any later changes. However, the ICEM mesh kernel seems to ignore this setting. So i would suggest the following workaround. Record the edge params setting for the individual edge(s). Later replay the command when you are finished with the other parallel edges. Alternatively, you can use copy to selected edges only and select all parallel but the different edge. Though, i can see, this might become quite tedious in your case. Regarding question 2: You likely have split blocks which are not drawn, when you selectively splitted blocks instead of the whole blocking. Use the feature Split Block>Split Block > Extent Split (for all edges) to show the true blocking. Ideally make a backup before using this feature. This might help to select the right blocks for the o-grid. You likely have to select the whole column of blocks where you want to draw your o-grid. I always try to imaging which faces are going to be extruded into which blocks to find the right selection of internal blocks and faces. All faces which should not be extruded need to be selected. The blocks into which the o-grid is generated must be selected too. |
