I have a pipe with inner and outer diameters as 6 & 10 mm respectively & length of 1 m. I want to add helical ribs to the outer surface of the pipe as that appears on the pictures? may somebody guide me on how I can do that?
Thanks for reply Mariam |

Many thanks for the answer. At the youtube there is only illustration on how to draw a helical tube but on my geometry, the helical tube added to the outer surface of the pipe? How I can do that? may you mention that to me in sequential steps? I will be grateful for that?

Dimension the diameter of the sweep such that it matches with the OD of the pipe. Boolean the two bodies together after the sweep.
Try sweeping something and see what you get. |

I attempted to use Boolean with substract but the process failed and an error appeared as the attached picture? I think the reason is from the helical pipe which looks longer than the pipe extents as shown in the pictures? I am sure that I give the line of the sweep same as that of the pipe length as 1 m? why it appears longer when created? I tried other pitches same thing happen?

It looks like the outer diameter of your helix is the same as the diameter of the body you are trying to subtract from. This would give an infinitely thin edge, so DM gives you an error. Try tweaking the diameter of the helix and/or the diameter of the circle swept along the path.

I did the substract successfully but the geometry looks incorrect because the helical pipe became as grooves while I want it appears like that on the second picture? How I can resolve this problem? any advice, please? Mariam |
