SpaceClaim automatically merges bodies

My setup is a geometry defined in SpaceClaim with dimensional input parameters. This is meshed with a Workbench project in Fluent Meshing Mode and finally solved in Fluent.
My problem is, that I want to have a defined mesh size in one fluid body of my domain. The body is connected directly to other bodies and if I change anything within that body SpaceClaim automatically merges all my bodies to one. If I use the named selection for the surfaces of that region, I can only define a Body of Influence with is not treating the inner cells the same way. Do you have any idea how to overcome my problem? As far as I'm aware I can't define a zone in SpaceClaim nor prevent the merging if I change a parameter. Also, a zone chosen for the body mesh size in Fluent is not kept when I update my dimension parameter. Thank you! |

Hi Robin,
I suspect that you have enabled the "share" property inside of Spaceclaim. You should check at the model properties in Spaceclaim and change the "share Topology" property to "none" (instead of "share" / "merge"). Have fun |

Thanks for your reply, it wasn't the cause of my problem. Though it guided me in the right direction.
I didn't realize that it happened only, when I used the pull tool. I figured that there is a "No Merge" Option in the properties of the pull tool. Now my geometries stay seperated the way I want. This is the setting: |

Hi Robin,
Yes you're right, didn't properly read your initial post otherwise I would have pointed you towards the solution you've written. I also faced that problem and I personally change the default pull behaviour to "no merge" as I'm using it more often. In case you need it you can change it under: File > SpaceClaim Options > Advanced > Pull Tool, in the option "Default extrude Behavior" select "No Merge" Have fun |
