Hi all,

I'm new here and relatively inexperienced with CFD in general, was wondering if someone could help me. Normally in Ansys, I would create/import a CAD file and create named selections, then mesh within Ansys and solve using FLUENT. However, I am working from a complex .STL file obtained from medical imaging (of an aortic tract). With this, I managed to create a .msh file in simpleware (scanIP), however when I imported it into FLUENT there were no named selections to apply boundary conditions.

I tried to import the .msh into the Ansys mesher, and while it would import it would not allow me to open the mesher and apply named selections. I have heard adding named selections may be possible in ICEM - then from there creating a volume mesh to then use in FLUENT. However when I import the .STL, it all comes in as one part, and I am not sure how to do this despite reading the user manual. If somebody could make some suggestions they would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi all,

CFX recognizes the mesh file with proper units as developed in Simpleware.

But when I import it in ICEM for named selections, the units are changed to higher order and because of this CFX also has improper units.

How to control the mesh units in ICEM?

I am new to ICEM. please help me in this regard! I am looking forward to your reply, thanks
