Hi
I have finite long pipe with dense small holes through the wall, equally distributed, and I just want to simulate the fluid flow for a small segment of it that represents a periodic part. you can see part of the geometry in attachment. I can not find any information on this forum about how to createtranslationally periodic region in ansys workbench design modeler/meshing. I´ve been trying to use the cyclic one as a reference, described here; http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/flu...-tutorial.html, and modified to translational but doesn´t work because I can´t seem to be able to define the coordinate system (yellow highlight doesn´t disappear). I would be much obliged if someone could point me to the right direction or post me a link that gives step-by-step description Best regards Ţórólfur |

Hi Thorolfur,
did you figure out how to set up the periodic region? I have exactly the same problem as you, the coordinate system is not accepted. Ansys Help has no page on how to create symmetries in Meshing. If you, or somebody else, could share your solution, that would be of great help. Thx, Gabriel |

I think that it has been relevant to FLUENT but ANSYS-Meshing has not |

there are two ways periodicity that are translational and rotational.
It could be done by selecting correct boundary conditions with TUI command. please check it : http://www.engr.uconn.edu/~barbertj/...heat/tut02.pdf if you still have a problem following reading the tutorial, we can talk about that issue again. Kind Regards, Onur Özcan |
