Hi,
Hi, I modeled an air turbine in Solidwork(with format IGS--import>IGES>Import IGES file>activate Negative in import options> then selecting IGS file in File name) and I want to mesh this model. This turbine have 6 blades((360/6)=60 deg=angle between blades). Due to the circumferential symmetry, only one sixth of the annulus has been computed, imposing periodic boundary conditions in the tangential direction. The computational domain has been restricted in the axial direction to six chord lengths upstream and ten chord lengths downstream of the blade. Now, I have a problem in Gambit. I cant split some edges in tip of blade. For example, edge 128 and 151 dont intersect until they are splited. when I change tolerance to 10e-3, these edges intersect together. But again other edges have problem of split. it maybe split some edge. dbs file: http://www.4shared.com/zip/KyxxAbxcce/AAAAA11.html Video file: http://www.4shared.com/zip/ZC7ZxkUrce/Untitled_188.html I am grateful that guide me about this problem. Thanks, Best, Amir |

it worked with option virtual connectd and tolerance 0.1
be careful it seems you have 2 airfoil one on the other (check for instance edge 567 & edge 568)

I want to mesh this model, Do these virtual edges create any problem? After meshing of the model, Is this model imported without error in fluent? what is usage of these type of edges, In other words, what is difference with real edges? I am grateful that guide me more. Best, Amir |

virtual entities won't affect your mesh
It is just a topology aspect. With real entities you are more free for spliting, etc... With virtual entities you won't be as free as for real entities. For example with real geometry you can split a cube with a plane. With virtual you cannot do it in this way
