Cell Wall Distance, Quality Imprvement

Fellow ICEM CFD users;
Here I have a hexa mesh of an Aircraft. When I checked it the quality is above 0.1 in ICEM. Then I converted it into an unstructured mesh from pre-mesh And the mesh size is 8 million elements ( 1.4Gb size Fluent mesh). I took it to fluent and it says the mesh has a very low orthogonal quality ( different from ICEM). And I get an error saying " the cell wall distance is 1e-12 and repair the mesh). However, my y+ is lower than 1 ( 0.000032m) and I do not know how to solve this problem. Can some one advice me? And converting pre-mesh to unstructured mesh is the right way right? or is there a way to convert it into a multi-block mesh? because I thought Fuent just accepts unstructured meshes. See the attached pics. Thanks a lot |

If Fluent computes on the mesh it seems the right way.
Although i'm not too familiar with blocking and structured meshs, i think to make the first cell bigger, go to your blocking and check the relevant spacings. After that make sure to recompute your pre-mesh and convert it again. |

Just for the benefit of other users..
I found the solution to this problem I think. It was because of my surface mesh having high aspect ratio elements. But increasing the surface mesh elements would mean a significant increase in the volume mesh as well. And luckily with information I found from another post here in the forum I came to knew that double precision solver of fluent can accept higher aspect ratios along the boundary layer and over all as well. Hope this helps any one else who is facing this problem. |
