Hello,
Im working on creating a mesh for a flow through a short strut. We basically have air issuing from one plenum to another through a short duct, and so the blocking is relatively straightforward. In terms of an overall strategy, I have created what Im calling a C-grid (an O-grid that follows the solid wall surfaces), so that we can have some structured refinement of the boundary layer. My problem is that I wind up creating an extra block that I dont want. I have attached a 2D sketch of the problem (my actual geometry is 3D, but if I can fix it in 2D the change should be straightforward). The extra block that I am referring to is the bottom hatched one on the top drawing - I want to be able to merge it with the block above, and then basically take the face mesh that I create on edges A, B, and C, and project them onto D. But that would involve creating a block with more than 4 edges. Is what Im trying to do possible?

Thanks
Jimmy

Start with the blocking structure shown in attachment 1. When splitting the initial block do not use the option "all visible" but "selected" for blocks. Then create quarter ogrids at the lower corners and delete the inner ogrid blocks (attachment 2 & 3). Move the vertices in place and set your mesh parameters and you are done. You might use linked bunching for the block with six vertices.

I would like to do this in 3D. 2D is working.

Any suggestions?

The lower one of the centered blocks needs to have a 3D Ogrid.
It would be OK if the top one also has an Ogrid.
