Hi!

Although I checked in for thread concerned to what I am looking for, didn't find any help. so, decided to create my own.

following a tutorial to get h-grid for a small semi-cylindrical geometry (dia12mm length25mm) in ICEM (beginner level)

http://148.204.81.206/Ansys/150/ANSY...l%20Manual.pdf

I've attached figures of mesh. understood the process upto o-grid setup in that tutorial. My point of interest is to set up the boundary layer at the moment. So that after completing this practice example with boundary layer, I wouldl be able to move forward to my actual problem.

In part mesh setup, enabled prism option for wall and tried to put in number of layers but still not successful. how to accomplish it? how to add just a random boundary layer in ICEM?

your help will be appreciated.

Regards,
AJ

bluebase will become famous soon enough
Within the documentation which comes with ICEM are tutorials closely related to your problem. One is called "Hexa Mesh Generation for a 3D Pipe Junction". Also try the 2D Car Tutorial if you haven't yet. The Part Mesh Setup is a feature related to unstructured meshing. Have look on the tutorial "Tetra/Prism Mesh Generation for an Aorta" to see the difference.
Last but not least, do the tutorial Merged "Tetra-Hexa Mesh in a Hybrid Tube".

With going through those four you should be able to answer your questions yourself.

With regards,
Sebastian

You were right. I didn't check these tutorials and I'm definetly gonna check now for improvement of my meshing basics and approach. Thank you so much for your time.

@Far
I've created 0-grid. I found edge-parameter under pre-mesh parameter category and applied linear scale with some number of required nodes to define BL. Gonna write it and post it in a form of tutorial soon as well.

if anybody have any suggestion either better or not, doesn't matter, for any step regarding posted steps, do mention here please. it will really help. Why did i ask? the reason behind is

1) i've not used other options while defining edge parameter.
2) another point i've in my mind is, i made quadrantel angle block edges while redefining their positions after o-grid. how can i get a better circular shape of mesh? referring to figure 39,40,41...

or any other thing which you notice and can be improved, point it out please.

Regards,
AJ

Just for right now, I've completed the tetra/hexa mesh in hybrid tube... and i really appreciate the way you pointed out. it helped me a lot regarding my 2nd thread which was mainly about problem related to interfaces.

I've another question, i've understood till the point where "mesh smoothing" process started which is the last step in that tutorial. i am looking for a little bit explanation of this step, please.

once again thanks a lot for your time.
