hi:
everyone ,now i have a geometry file ,it is a volute of a centrifugal compressor. i have tried many ways to mesh t ,but failed .i attach the file , i hope some expert can help me . it is a challegen for icem to mesh this type of structure. the attachment is the geometry file of the volute. because of the limit of the the forums , you need to change the suffix from .zip to .rar ! . thanks for suggestions . we can shares the experience ,learning each other. |

Hi,
I have attached meshed file for your geometry in the dropbox. https://www.dropbox.com/s/vvp2tbuafa3qhab/Volute_Shared.zip I have puffed the geometry with blocks and its not of that great quality I got. In critical junction I have used blocks in a haphazard way. Let me know if you come across any better blocking strategy. It will be helpful. Regards, Raghav |

hey raghav,
The blocking you used is complex, but very good. good job. It was discussed before that in critical junction, quality of the structured mesh can be very limited and there is nothing you can do about it. I wanna try something on this, but I'm quit busy these days, I would love to try simon's trick to block the essential 2D surface (shown in the picture below) ; then extrude it along the curves, that would be certainly my move strategy: Anyway your blocking is very good ! |

Raghav. Great work. It seems that you are an expert in ICEM CFD. I am trying to learn to mesh an centrifugal pump impeller in ICEM CFD. Please, would you attach a file showing meshing of any impeller?
