Slice command does not preserve bodies

I'm trying to model fluid coolant as it flows through serpentine passages in a solid plate. I created the fluid domain by placing surface caps on the inlet and outlet and then using the "fill by caps" feature. This creates one large fluid body.
ANSYS Meshing has a hard time sweeping this body. From what I've read on this forum, I should use the DM slice tool to break the fluid into multiple bodies and then create one part. Any time I try to use the slice command, however, only one portion of the body is kept and the rest is deleted. All the examples and documentation I've read say the slice command automatically freezes the parts. Can anyone shed light on why the slice command does not preserve all of the bodies? I feel like I'm missing something simple as this is crucial for proper swept meshing. |

I found the problem... My geometry consisted of multiple bodies (~200). Many of those bodies were not needed, so I grouped them into a part and suppressed it.
When I performed a slice operation on the water channel, however, some of the new bodies were mysteriously suppressed and added to the other parts. I consider this a minor bug in DM. Hopefully this might save someone from frustration in the future. |
