Problem creating fluid domain in ansys design modeller 14.0

Hi,
I am quite new to ansys design modeller 14.0. I need to extract fluid volume from solid volume. The geometry is quite simple as it consists of two coincident cylinders, the inner one has gear like structure and the outer one is a normal one. I need the flow to be between the two cylinders. I am unable to extract the common domain which will be the flow domain. I have been using enclosure option which is not solving my problem. The fill option is also not working. Can anyone suggest me where I am making mistake? In Gambit I could easily deduct the volumes and keep it for my flow domain. I am unable to do that in Ansys Design modeller. Can anybody throw some light on it? |

see this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bb8Tsd9eGe4
You need to investigate more the problem, if the fill feature doesn't work , WHY ?? did you use fill by CAPS or CAVITY. filling by caps require you to have closed all the hole... how about following the video , it's a sort of an hand made enclosure... Post some more pictures or share you project... |

Hi,
I am having the same problem. I want to fill the space pointed by the arrow with fluid. untitlted.jpg I followed the steps in the video. In the video, he extrude 1st in the normal direction than in the reversed direction. However, the results i got was weird. It seems that the fluid covers everything except the 2 bodies. It was suppose to cover the space bounded by the 3 bodies. Untitled.jpg When I tried to extrude 1st in the reverse direction than in the normal direction, the design modeller will give me an error saying that " the operation will result in non-manifold bodies". Best regard, Rick |
