Combining structured and unstructured meshes

I have large areas in my geometry that can easily be meshed using the map functionality. Is there a possibility to mesh these in a structured fashion and combine them with a tetrahedral mesh.
If this is the case could someone explain this to me for a basic example like a cube. If I want to mesh one half of it using the map function and the other half using a tet mesh. How would I proceed? Any feedback would be highly appreciated. |

Hello Bloerb,
Yes you can. Try to mesh it step by step. This could be a way: You need those areas to be separated as you can see in my example. Mesh what you have to mesh with map, maybe freeze the mapped mesh or hide it, and go on with tetra or with what mesh you want on the other surfaces. You can change what type of mesh to create when you use the for example Mesh Generation-->Map--->Options list--->Element type I hope it helps. Have fun I have attached an example. |
