Three postdoctoral positions are available at the Computational and Theoretical Multiphysics Laboratory, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Florida State University.

General Requirements For All Positions:

• PhD in engineering (mechanical, aero, civil) or related fields (applied mathematics, computational physics).
• Creativity and interest in interdisciplinary research.
• Strong oral and written communication skills with a publication record.
• Ability to work independently.

1st Postdoc Position: Fluid-Structure Interaction in Turbulent Flows

Start: Immediately

Research Focus: Computational and/or experimental fluid-structure interaction in turbulent flows.

Position-Specific Requirements:

• Experience with both CFD and experimental fluid dynamics.
• Desirable research skills include FSI, turbulence, and data-driven techniques.

Duration: One year

2nd Postdoc Position: Multiphase Cryogenic Flows

Start: Beginning 2025 (in collaboration with SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory)

Research Focus: Boiling phenomena and fluid dynamics of cryogenic fluids and boiling-induced noises.

Position-Specific Requirements:

• HPC and multiphase simulation experiences.
• Programming skills in C++, Fortran.
• Understanding of AMR methods and acoustic analysis.

Duration: Multi-year (yearly renewal based on performance)

3rd Postdoc Position: Quantum-based Flow Modeling

Start: Beginning 2025

Research Focus: Stochastic homogenization and quantum computing approaches to simulate turbulent flows.

• Interest in quantum computing and turbulence modeling.
• Skills in quantum computing, programming, and stochastic analysis.

Duration: Multi-year (yearly renewal based on performance)
