The University’s research priorities are addressed in two categories — “verticals” and “horizontals” — which jointly cover specific industry and sector needs, technical platforms and expertise. KU’s focus sectors are Clean and Renewable Energy, Hydrocarbon Exploration and Production, Water and Environment, Healthcare, Aerospace, and Supply Chain and Logistics. Research in these sectors is enhanced by our research platforms of Robotics, AI and Data Science, Information and Communication Technologies, and Advanced Materials and Manufacturing as well as Fundamental Sciences. Position Overview: Khalifa University is seeking a highly motivated Post-doctoral Fellow to work on both numerical simulations and experimental measurements related to flow accelerated corrosion using a newly designed rotating cage setup. The selected candidate will be expected to contribute toward the following tasks: • The postdoc will also conduct high level numerical simulations incorporating rotating turbomachinery using OpenFOAM and StarCCM+. • Experimental measurements using the rotating cage setup with the help of stereo Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) • Post process and analyze data for flow accelerated corrosion (FAC) development • Collaborate with our international partner University of Manchester, UK and edf France • Publish high-quality journal and international conference papers based on the obtained research results Position Requirements: • Expert in Computational Fluid Dynamics with hands-on experience of CFD and other modelling codes such as OpenFOAM, StarCCM+, MATLAB, Tecplot etc. • Working knowledge of PIV measurements • Good programming skills in C++, MATLAB and Phyton • Excellent writing and communication skills, strong publication records • Adhere to the University's information security and confidentiality policies and procedures, and report breaches or other security risks accordingly • Perform any other tasks assigned by the Line Manager Required Criteria: • PhD from a reputable university in Mechanical/Aerospace/Nuclear Engineering or a closely related discipline • Experience writing scientific review papers and grants • A willingness to contribute to a collaborative and supportive team culture • Excellent English language communication skills (verbal and written) • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team • The proven ability to work on multiple tasks with competing demands and deadlines • Ability to train and mentor grad students and support fellow researchers • Highly developed reasoning and problem-solving skills Khalifa University is an equal opportunity employer and offers excellent salaries/benefits.
