A PhD studentship may be available (depending on funding availability) in Fall 
2024 or Spring 2025 at the City College of New York (CCNY) of the City 
University of New York (CUNY). Now, we would like to collect CVs in advance from 
those interested. The research aims to develop new and enhanced existing 
numerical models for problems with coastal ocean flows and fluid-structure 
interaction. It is expected that the candidates are highly motivated and goal-
oriented and have

   1. MS degree in mechanical/civil/ocean engineering, or applied math, or other 
related disciplines
   2. Solid knowledge of mathematics and physics

Experience in computer programming (e.g., Fortran, C++, Python) and flow 
modeling and algorithms (e.g., OpenFOAM, ocean models) is preferred. Background 
in both math and engineering is especially welcome. People with citizenship of 
the U.S. and its territories will have priority.
