Two positions for PhD studies in Spring 2025 at the Applied Computing & 
Thermofluid Lab affiliated with the Department of Engineering and System Science 
at National Tsing Hua University (QS World rankings #210, 
https://www.topuniversities.com/universities/national-tsing-hua-university). The 
industrial park in Hsinchu has become synonymous with Taiwan's flagship 
semiconductor industry, which ranks second only to the U.S. by revenue and 
serves almost all of the world's tech giants, including Apple, Google, Qualcomm 
and Nvidia.

Research topics:
1. Combustion simulations using ANSYS Fluent (or OpenFoam) and other chemical 
kinetic modeling tools. Both studies will involve experimental work. You may 
expect to take 4 years to complete the study.
2. Applying lattice Boltzmann (OpenLB) methods for solving industrial problems 
(GPU computing).

*NTHU awards admitted international PhD student scholarships with a tuition 
waiver.
*University fellowships (10,000 to 40,000 TWD per month) and monthly research 
and teaching assistant stipends from the lab of Dr. Lin (20,000 to 35,000 TWD) 
should be enough for you to pay off your living expenses.
*English is the medium of communication and coursework.  
*Applicants who secure admission will have the registration fees reimbursed by 
the PI, Dr. Lin.
