Description:
The Computational Engineering Laboratory in the Center for Materials Technologies at the Skolkovo Institute
of Science and Technology has immediate openings for Research Scientists (Postdocs) in the area of Multi-
Scale/Multi-Physics Modeling and Simulation of Complex Flows.

The mission of the Computational Engineering Laboratory is multi-scale/multi-physics computational
modeling of physical systems and technological processes, as well as the development of new integrated
adaptive technologies for computer simulation of physical processes, involving the coordinated development
and tight integration of scientific approaches in the fields of information technology, mathematical modeling,
machine learning, high performance parallel computing, mechanics, chemistry, physics, and materials
science.

Applicants with strong background in the following areas are encouraged to apply:
•	multi-scale/multi-physics fluid mechanics modeling and simulation,
•	high performance adaptive parallel algorithms,
•	scientific and engineering visualization.

The successful candidates will work collaboratively with members of the Computational Engineering
Laboratory (https://sci.skoltech.ru/computationalengineering), led by Prof. Oleg V. Vasilyev
(https://faculty.skoltech.ru/people/olegvasilyev). The applicant must have demonstrated expertise in one of
the relevant areas, specifically computational mathematics, computational fluid mechanics, high-performance
scientific computing, high-fidelity simulations, turbulence modeling and simulations. The successful
candidate will work with the team of research scientists, software engineers and PhD students to develop
novel computationally efficient variable fidelity approaches for predictive modeling and simulation of complex
multi-scale multi-physics flows and implement them into the next-generation unified simulation platform with
novel modeling paradigm that tightly integrates numerical solvers and physics-based modeling that is
currently being developed. Solid knowledge of C++ is also required. Good communication skills and English
proficiency are required. Good understanding of parallel algorithms/concurrent programming, and/or previous
experience working with parallel research codes is essential.

The level of initial appointment (Junior/Senior/Leading Research Scientist) depends on candidate’s experience
and qualification. A successful candidate will have an opportunity to develop an independent research
program and transition to a regular faculty position.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree in Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Computational Science,
Computational Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or a related technical field.

Selected applicants will receive a highly competitive compensation package: salary commensurate with
experience, housing allowance in case relocation will be needed, medical insurance.

Please submit your application in English to Prof. O.Vasilyev@skoltech.ru, indicating “Position in the
Computational Engineering Laboratory” in the subject and including the following list of information:
•	CV with detailed presentation of professional and research activities,
•	list of all publications, lectures, and research/industrial projects detailing the candidate's contributions,
•	list of research interests and long-term career objectives with a statement, why you are interested in the
position.
