Prof. Xuerui Mao’s research group at Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) is
seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic postdoctoral researchers in the field
of fluid mechanics, computer science, and machine learning.
The duty of the role is within the range of: 1) conduct numerical simulations
and modelling of various fluid phenomena, 2) develop and implement novel ROM or
algorithms on physics-informed learning of functions for data obtained from CFD
simulations or experiments, 3) attending academic conferences and writing
reports, proceedings and journal papers, 4) co-supervising graduate and
undergraduate students.
The selected candidates will receive an annual salary of up to 375K RMB (Beijing
campus), 475K RMB (Zhukhai campus)or 520K RMB (Jiaxing campus) depending on the
experience and track record. The group will also provide research funding,
additional subsidies and bonuses depending on research performance. The
University offers one-bedroom accommodation within the campus costing 1200 RMB
per month. These positions have a duration of two years, and outstanding
candidates will be considered for faculty positions near the end of the term.
Introduction to the research group
The research group comprises a multi-disciplinary team with on-going research
activities across fundamental and applied fluid mechanics and data science,
including data assimilation, modal analysis, icing/de-icing, fluid-solid
interaction, and computational simulation and modelling of various flows. In
addition, it maintains extensive collaborations with overseas universities,
e.g., Imperial College London, University of Nottingham, Oxford University, KTH,
Johns Hopkins University. There are regular mutual exchanges of researchers for
each of the topic above. The group has been funded by research councils and
major industries in aerospace engineering and energy in the UK, EU and China.
More information of the group can be found at https://mao-lab.com.
BIT is located in the centre of Beijing, and despite its compact size, it
belongs to the first groups of national higher education projects “211” and
“985”, among a few other esteemed universities. For international candidates,
the university and the group will offer compressive support for accommodation
and integration into campus life, and it is totally comfortable to speak English
in the campus.
Requirements:
A PhD degree in applied mathematics, engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, and
computer science), or equivalent fields.
Publication record in top journals.
Capacity to communicate fluently in English.
Experiences on programming, analytical modelling, high-performance-computing,
and machine learning will be appreciated.
Outstanding candidates are invited to send (1) Covering letter (2) CV and (3)
