A fully funded PhD position is available in Monash University Malaysia on the 
project: "In-silico and in vitro studies on the effects of viscous/viscoelastic 
fluid environment on sperm cell flagellar beat pattern". 

This project is funded under Monash’s Global Excellence and Mobility Scholarship 
(GEMS) scheme and is set to commence in 2024. The successful candidate will join 
the Biomedical Engineering Modelling and Simulation (BEMS) group and the Applied 
Microfluidics & Bioengineering (AMB) lab and work closely with Assoc Prof Dr Ean 
Hin Ooi, Dr Chin Vern Yeoh and Dr Reza Nosrati. 

This scholarship is opened to both Malaysians & non-Malaysians.

Benefits:
30 months candidature in Monash Malaysia & up to 12 months candidature in Monash 
Australia

Scholarship covers 100% tuition fee waiver and a monthly stipend of RM 2,800 per 
month in Malaysia and RM 8,500 per month in Australia.

Requirements:
First class bachelor degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline
Demonstrated research experience in a related field will be advantageous
Experience in COMSOL Multiphysics and finite element modelling will be 
advantageous.
