A PhD program in fluid mechanics starting in September 2023 is open now for the 
applications. The PhD student will work with Prof. Yu Guo in the Department of 
Engineering Mechanics, Zhejiang University (Hangzhou, China). More information

The PhD project is designated to develop hybrid Discrete Element Method (DEM), 
Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), and Lattice Boltzmann Methods (LBM) for the 
studies of multiphase flows with complex and active particles. Some experimental 
measurements of granular flow properties are also required in the project.

The candidate is expected to:
1) hold a master degree in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, energy, 
applied mathematics, computer engineering, or related engineering subjects.
2) have experience in computational mechanics. (This is an advantage but not 
necessary)
3) be competent in coding using C/C++/Fortran. 

The candidate must apply for the Chinese Government Scholarship, and only the 
candidate who successfully obtains this scholarship can be considered for this

The PhD student will work in the Yuquan Campus, Zhejiang University, 
38 Zheda Road, West Lake District, Hangzhou, China. The campus is very close to 
the beautiful West Lake and botanical garden in the city, and it is a nice 
place to live. Zhejiang University is one of few most prestigious universities 
in China (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zhejiang_University), and the 
university has great facilities to support studies and research.
