Closure Date | Saturday, October 01, 2022 |
Description: | |
The chair of numerical fluid and gas dynamics at BTU wants to initiate a Young Researcher Group (YRG) on stochastic multi scale modeling in computational fluid mechanics (CFD) with a strong focus on energy conversion problems. The group consists of a group leader E14 position (open from July 2022) and several group members financed through E13 positions or research stipends (flexible begin from July 2022 until June 2023). We invite excellent scientists with a doctorate to apply as a junior research group leader for the YRG. As group leader of the YRG, you will have the opportunity to develop a research focus stochastic on stochastic multi scale flow modeling in CFD with application to energy conversion problems. The stochastic modeling approaches should have a connection to the chairs' expertise, se e.g. https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Heiko-Schmidt-2 As group leader, you will benefit from excellent conditions for your academic career development. You can apply if you completed your doctorate not more than three years ago. The Young Investigator Group includes a position for the group leader (full-time, temporary for up to 4 years (based on personal and labour law requirements), pay scale E14 TV-L). You should have an excellent background proofed by high level publications in at least two of the following areas: Monte Carlo Simulations, LBM, SPH, DNS or LES using academic codes. Experience in commercial CFD solvers and OpenFoam is not sufficient! Additionally you should have simulation experience in one of the following areas: boundary layers, roughness effects, particulate/aerosol flows, wind energy, combustion, reactive systems, heat transfer, electrolysis or catalysis. Experience in C++, Python and/or machine learning is a plus. Ph.D. students: We look for several Ph.D. students with initial experience on a M.Sc.(not longer than three years ago) level in the areas given above. Please send applications only via email including a motivation letter and your CV in ONE pdf document not bigger than 8MB to heischmi@zedat.fu-berlin.de Please indicate in the subject: YRG-PHD or YRG-POSTDOC when you apply for the Ph.D. or group leader position, respectively. |
