The Aerospace Sciences Laboratory (AeroLab) at Universidad Técnica Federico
Santa Maria (https://usm.cl/en/home/) is looking for a postdoctoral researcher
in the field of numerical simulations applied to aerospace problems.

The selected candidate will work in an experienced and dynamic team at the
Department of Mechanical Engineering and its international collaborators in the
USA and Europe. The postdoctoral researcher will be responsible for migrating
the DSMC code (C++, OpenFOAM) to CUDA language, to be used in Nvidia graphics
cards. This migration from C++ language to CUDA is of essential importance for
the solution of complex problems related to rarefied gas flows.

Once the researcher is selected, he/she will write a three-year research project
in collaboration with the postdoctoral supervisor. This project will be
submitted Chilean National Agency for Research and Development (ANID). The
expected salary is $2500,00 (USD) and a budget for the purchase of equipment and
participation in events/publications.

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

- PhD in engineering, computer sciences, physics, or mathematics
- Proven experience in CUDA programming for graphics cards units
- Experience with OpenFOAM programming
- Career stage compatible publishing record
- Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams
- Willing to learn to speak/write Spanish

POSITION / EMPLOYER DETAILS

The AeroLab group works on applied research in mechanical and aerospace
engineering using multiscale numerical modeling (DSMC and CFD). The start date
is March 2023 with a 3-years contract. We offer highly competitive salary, and

group's mission.
