FT Technologies has an exciting opportunity for an intern CFD engineer looking 
to gain experience in the wind energy industry. Working closely with our R&D 
team, alongside a team of aerodynamics, acoustics, electronics, mechanics and 
software engineers, you will be responsible for developing CFD analyses and 
models to conduct aerodynamic research in our wind sensor products. Your role 
will be to support the deployment of advanced turbulence models and conduct 
experimental research to validate models.

The ideal candidate will be competent in commercial and open-source CFD 
modelling packages and have experience in working from theoretical principles 
to develop computer models. Practice in applying URANS, LES, and DNS modelling 
techniques to develop CFD meshes and computations is essential. Exposure to 
OpenFOAM, ParaView, SnappyMesh, Pointwise, SU2 would be advantageous, along 
with experience in transitional turbulence models.

Responsible to the Director of R&D
- Key contacts include Aerodynamics and Acoustics Research Team members, 
Engineering Team members and the Director of Technology.
- Located in Sunbury-on-Thames, London.
- 40 hours per week.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities
- Create CFD models and apply aerodynamic principles in the development and 
optimisation of meshes and computations to evaluate and predict the behaviour 
of wind sensor products.
- Validate CFD models using the results of experimental data and feedback loop 
to theoretical predictions.
- Create reports of theoretical proposals and experimental results.
- Assist in the creation of product concepts with mechanical design.
- Assist in planning and running wind tunnel tests to validate concepts.

Person Specification
- BSc or MSc in Aerodynamics or Aeronautics specialised in Computational Fluid 
- Competent in commercial and open-source CFD modelling packages.
- Experience in working from theoretical principles to develop computer 
- Practice in applying URANS, LES, and DNS modelling techniques to develop CFD 
meshes and computations.
- Applied knowledge of Linux.
- Ability to demonstrate a creative approach to analytical and problem-solving 
- Self-motivated, comfortable working independently and able to prioritise.
- Collaborative approach and proven flexibility to work as part of a cross-
functional team.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Comfortable working to time constraints to meet agreed deadlines.
- High standards of personal and professional integrity.

- Experienced in transitional turbulence models. Experience of using OpenFOAM, 
ParaView, SnappyMesh, Pointwise, SU2.
- Interest in aeroacoustics.

Candidates have to be eligible to work in the UK.
The duration of the internship is between 5 to 6 months.
