CRAFT Tech has an immediate opening for a Combustion Modeling Research
Scientist. CRAFT Tech is seeking motivated and energetic individuals to join
its highly talented team focused on developing solutions products for
customers in government, academia, and industry for multi-disciplinary
applications in Aerospace, Defense, Energy, and National Security.
Job Description:
- Collaborate with and support senior staff in performing projects related to
turbulent combustion modeling, reactive flow simulations, and related research
activities
- Collaborate with CRAFT Tech’s partners in government, academia, and industry
- Interfacing with customers, including development of presentation material,
etc.
- Report preparation, proposal development, and participation in technical
forums
Applicant Qualifications:
- M.S. or Ph.D. in aerospace, mechanical engineering, or related field
- Very strong background in combustion, multi-phase turbulent reactive flows,
and shock dynamics as related to energetic materials
- Excellent analytical and technical skills in chemical kinetics,
thermodynamics and transport processes, including experience with software
tools like Chemkin or Cantera
- Demonstrated experience in development of combustion/physics models and
numerical algorithms for large-scale computational and data analysis software
on parallel computing platforms
- Strong programming skills with Fortran, C/C++, Python, or other scripting
languages
- Excellent communication, very strong writing and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work both independently on R&D programs as well as in a team
environment
- US citizenship preferred. Exceptionally qualified candidates who are
permanent resident aliens may also be considered
Additional Desired Skills:
- Strong background in multi-disciplinary numerical techniques, linear
algebra, applied probability, machine learning, and optimization approaches
- Experience using commercial CFD software, mesh generation, and CFD post-
processing
- Experience in writing proposals
