A post-doctoral position in Computational Fluid Dynamics is available at the 
University of Louvain (UCLouvain) in Belgium. The topic concerns turbulent 
convection with phase change (evaporation across the free surface of open-top reservoirs plus boiling) and has many interesting industrial and environmental applications. 

The specific objectives of the project are the following.
1)  Development of appropriate models that describe all relevant hydrodynamic and transport phenomena occurring below and above the free surface.
2)  Development of algorithms and numerical simulations, via high-performance computing.
3)  Calculation of phase-change rates for a variety of configurations.

Particular emphasis will be given in the modelling and simulation of:  
•  turbulent convection at high Rayleigh numbers,
•  evaporation across the free surface,
•  nucleation and boiling at solid boundaries,
•  descent of the free surface. 

The initial duration of the appointment is for 12 months,  renewable twice for a period of 12 months each. Therefore, the overall duration can be up to 36 months. 

The postdoctoral fellow will join the Multi-phase and Reacting Flows group of 
the University of Louvain. Information about our group's activities is available

The postdoctoral fellowship includes a competitive salary, full insurance and

Required qualifications and skills:
- a PhD degree with in the thematic area of modeling and simulation of fluid flows. Background and expertise in two-phase and/or turbulent flows is highly desirable.
- good programming skills (in C/C++ or Fortran),
- strong mathematical background,
- ability to efficiently communicate, read and write in English.
