Hello everybody,

Usually I read my Fluent results in Tecplot by exporting them in CGNS format. A couple of months ago I switched to Ansys 15.0 and when I am trying to read in Tecplot a CGNS file exported with this particular Fluent version I face this error:

"File Error: File not found or Invalid CGNS format. ADF_Database_Open: ADF 5: String is not an ASCII-HEX string."

I have no problems when I export the same results with Fluent 14.5.7.

Can anyone help me with this?

Many thanks

Andrea

Hi Andrea,

I would recommend using the native cas and dat files from Fluent and the Tecplot "Fluent Data Loader". We have tested it with v15 and it loads the results quite nicely. Is there an other reason that you are exporting the data in to a CGNS file?

The next version of Tecplot 360 EX (2014 R2) is scheduled to be released today and has several updates to the CGNS data loader. If you don't have access to the newest version of Tecplot 360 you can test the data with our most recent Beta by joining the beta program.

Let me know how the Fluent data loader works for your data.

Dear Durrell,

many thanks for your reply. Currently I am using Tecplot 360 2011 and the Fluent Data Loader does not work properly for me (i.e. the variable names are messed up and some variables are not loaded correctly); the CGNS format has always worked perfectly until I switched to Fluent 15.0.

I will probably join the beta program to see if the Fluent Data Loader works better with a newer Tecplot version.

Regards
Andrea
