Is there a way to define an arbitrary freestream vector (i.e., [u, v, w]) for the compressible solver rather than alpha/beta? This adds complexity to the process when running cases that do not align with the SU2 coordinate frame.

I do not see how introducing [U,V,W] reduces complexity compared to working with [Ma,alpha, beta], since the usual measure of velocity is the Mach number for compressible flows.
It is not possible to work with freestream values [U,V,W] in SU2 (for compressible flows, it is possible for incompressible flow).

The velocity magnitude could still be defined by Mach number, I'm referring to the direction of the velocity vector, [u/U, v/U, w/U] (defined as a normalized vector rather than two angles). Say you're working on a geometry with some X, Y, Z coordinate system and want the flow to be going in the negative X direction; currently that requires (as far as I know) defining an angle of attack of 180 degrees, and any angle of attack relative to that must be calculated WRT 180. The ability to define a normalized freestream vector, (e.g. something like [0.7071, 0.7071, 0]), would be more flexible for a wider variety of problems. Just a thought; I didn't see this functionality in the docs but wanted to check if it existed.
