Hello all,
I have prepared a valid Gmsh mesh file (.msh) and exported the mesh to su2 format from Gmsh. I have inspected the exported su2 mesh file using Pointwise and found that the boundaries surfaces come with name tags such as 'PhysicalSurface1'. This always gave me sufficient information for me to construct a .cfg file in order to run SU2_CFD. However, it is a bit inconvenient as these names don't carry any meaning, are non-intuitive, and it's error-prone. Therefore, I would like to rename the boundaries surfaces using names such as 'INLET', 'PER1_UP', 'PER1_LOW', 'OUTLET', etc. How do I do this? I was not able to find a way to add this information in Gmsh. In addition, I would like to have a workflow without Pointwise. Could anyone please suggest me a way to go about this? Thanks. Shenren |

in gmsh, the boundary conditions are called physical groups. In 2D, you select the boundary lines and give them a descriptive name, like inlet or outlet, in 3D, you select surfaces. You usually also select the entire body (the plane in 2D or the volume in 3D) and give it a name like 'fluid_body'. When you export the mesh to su2, you only need to export the physical entities/groups. Any additional points or lines that you have created but do not want in your final mesh will then not be written to the su2 file.
