aman_baig is on a distinguished road
I am trying to do an FSI simulation of a rotating cylinder of radius R_inner and R_outer. The rotation is applied on the outer boundary (R_outer) and should cause the flow outside to circle around it. The force must then be transmitted through the structure to the R_inner and the inside fluid should also get the same angular velocity at R_outer in the steady state.

BUT none of this is happening. The rotation is not even applied properly with dynamic mesh. I have used 'MOVING_WALL', 'FLUID_STRUCTURE', 'RIGID_MOTION' and also 'ELASTICITY' but none of them seems to work. I sometimes made the 'OuterCircle' the MARKER_MOVING or 'OuterCircleS' (structure at R_outer); but none seems to induce any flow that I want. Even after 7 seconds of simulation at 0.01 timestep I am getting a trivial solution that I view in TecPlot.

I have attached the mesh that I have in Pointwise. It is in 2 zones (fluid and structure). The structure zone is the structured mesh.

My case's mesh and cfg files are here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1gS...kHtixfvxlzoSlH

I have tried a lot of work arounds but none of it works. I believe the issue is with applying the grid movement correctly in FSI. I did this case with a moving wall circle in a steady case without any structures and got the right results.

I have a couple of sub-questions too:

1. How and when we use FLUID_STRUCTURE, FLUID_STRUCTURE_STATIC, EXTERNAL, EXTERNAL_ROTATION, ELASTICITY and MOVING_HTP for Grid movement type. (and are there any other too?)

2. Can SU2 handle 3 zones if I make two fluid and one structural zone? I tried that for the same problem but it threw an error during mesh processing.

3. I use TECPLOT_BINARY but it only gives the flow mesh not the structure mesh which makes it impossible to view the structure solution. Does anyone has any clue on how to deal with this?

4. I have seen some cases dont run with mpirun on multicore but when I do just SU2_CFD config.cfg they start running and doesn't diverge as before. Why is here an anomaly?

I also use Visual Studio Code on OpenSuse to view the source code for SU2 to find some options. If you know anything information that I can easily extract from it that will be helpful.

I thank you in advance for your time and help.
