Hi all,
Sorry, this may be a really simple question; in SU2, is there a specific target y+ that one should aim for when meshing for the Euler solver? Many thanks and kind regards, Tim |

Wall y+ is a non-dimensional parameter.
It is an important parameter and used with turbulence models to calculate or check the first cell height for a given turbulence model/approach (wall function or solve to the wall). For euler simulations you are only solving invicid flow and fine stretched grid to resolve boundary layer is not required. So you can simply have a mesh good enough to resolve flow features in the field like contact discontinuity or shock etc.. |

Thanks for the reply. That makes sense - I haven't touched CFD in a while, so I could only recall needing different y+ values for different wall functions, which is only a concern in turbulence modelling and RANS! I guess all I need is sufficient mesh density to resolve my flow feature of interest then.
Kind regards, Tim |
