I output CGNS file from ICEM-CFD with 3.1ADF option. The mesh is airfoil with multi-block conversion.
but looks like SU2 cannot handle, if zone number is limited to 1, then SU2 is almost useless. Can anybody tell me how can I output mesh from ICEM-CFD to SU2? what format and what procedures? Thank you very much! |

I am guessing SU2 is a unstructured solver, so I need convert the mesh to unstructured form and then output to CGNS, and some lower version say 2.4 CGNS. Is this so?

Hi,
as you said the you have to convert the mesh to an unstructured mesh (SU2 = Stanford University Unstructured ). I use CGNS 3.1 ADF as export from ICEM and didn't have any problems so far. You can either use the .cgns mesh directly in SU2 or convert the mesh to the native .su2 format (see https://su2code.github.io/tutorials/Inviscid_Wedge/). Note though, that the mesh for the solver has to be in meters [m]. Regards, Tobi |

Hi,
I stick with the (default) options: [No | Nodes | No]. In order to adress the boundaries through the cfg file I create named "Parts" in ICEM. Sorry for the late reply, I didn't notice your followup question. Regards Tobi |

Hello,
I al having problems using both the .cgns mesh and the converter embedded into SU2. My mesh is a multi-zone mesh and whenever I try to run the SU2_DEF or the SU2_CFD with the multizone option activated, the following message appears:"CGNS reader currently expects only 1 zone per CGNS file.Multizone problems can be run with separate CGNS files for each zone." Does anybody know how can I fix this problem? |

I think you just have to split the cgns into separate cgns files for each zone.
