Hello Everyone
I am using SU2 v5 for parallel computations on windows but it doesn`t generate flow.vtk and output files for post-processing. How can I get these files? Thanks very much |

You have to run SU2_SOL in order to get output files after parallel computations.

This should be done automatically when using the parallel_computation.py script - I don't use this on windows, if there is a windows-specific issue another user will have to weigh in. I do know that many people (myself included) have found setting up for parallel on windows to be challenging, so you may also want to check the output to make sure that the simulation completed successfully.
You will also need to make sure that OUTPUT_FORMAT is set to PARAVIEW (it is TECPLOT by default) |

Dear All
I tried reading the Tecplot data from SU2 6.0.0 using Paraview but it gives error, which I think, is related to the header line in the file. "PointID" "x" "y" "z" "Density" "X-Momentum" "Y-Momentum" "Z-Momentum" "Energy" etc. The error says: 'The record type x found in the file is unknown' I tried Visit as well but that also gives the error. Somebody please help. Thanks and Regards Shyam |

Hi Shyam,
I have unfortunately run into this problem as well. I would suggest rerunning SU2_SOL with OUTPUT_FORMAT= PARAVIEW in your config. Hope this helps, Wally |

Hi Shyam and Wally,
Just change the extension of Tecplot output file from .dat to .tec and read in ParaView by selecting Tecplot(visit) option. It should work. Let me know. Last edited by aero_amit; January 25, 2020 at 03:00. |

Thanks Wally...Your suggestion worked.
Thanks Amit. I tried changing the extension from .dat to .tec, Paraview reads the file but still gives the same error as earlier. I could not find the Tecplot(Visit) option. The two options are: Tecplot Files and Tecplot Table. Please have a look. I am using Paraview 5.4.1. Thanks again Wally and Amit |

Hi Ssyadav,
I am using paraview 5.2.0 (Ubuntu 16.04). For example, I change flow.dat to flow.tec and than File - > Open - > flow.tec, it will ask Open Data with (a dialog box). You have to select Tecplot Files (Visit) option. Than select the mesh and point Arrays. That's all to it. Best Amit |
