Hi all,
I am not new to CFD but I am an absolute novice when it comes to SU2. I hope my questions are not repeats but I haven't found anything pertaining to them on the forum so I suppose it's ok.
I am trying to run the "laminar flow over a cylinder" test case from the SU2 wiki but I cannot seem to find the lam_cylinder.cfg they refer to in the instructions. Am I supposed to create it from the config_template.cfg and, if so, do I need to introduce null values for the unneeded options? Thanks again and apologies if this is a repeat question.

Hi Adam,

you should find all the config files in the TestCases folder inside the main SU2 directory. In particular the config file for the case you mentioned is in TestCases/navierstokes/cylinder. Please note that the mesh files are in a separate repository (https://github.com/su2code/TestCases).

More information can be found here: https://github.com/su2code/SU2/wiki/Test-Cases

Hi Tim,
Thanks for your help it seems I unpacked the tar file and did not correctly configure. If you don't mind I'd like to pick your brain a bit more. I am trying to visualize the "laminar flow over a cylinder" tutorial using Paraview but I am unable to display the streamlines correctly. Is this due to my ignorance of Paraview or does it have something to do with the .vtk I made as my output. Also, do you know if it is possible to create an output file that is compatible with the post processing program Visit? When I tried to visualize in Visit I could only get errors. Thanks again!
