Hello all!

I am a new user of SU2 and am currently trying to apply the mesh adaptation feature on the navierstokes test case, "naca0012." Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find any extensive documentation on this topic, and previous threads have been kind of brief and ambiguous in my opinion.

I have successfully altered the configuration file to enable mesh adaptation with code from the general configuration file with my desired parameters (I'm applying a Wake adaptation), and ran the adaptation python script: python mesh_adaptation.py --file=mesh_NACA0012_lam_hybrid_v1.su2, and then some files are generated. I thought SU2 would project the adapted grid on to the original grid and recompute the calculations, but when looking in flow.dat, my mesh remains the same as the original mesh, and my results are exactly the same as well. The only difference is that the adapted_grid.dat shows what the adapted grid looks like after the results have been computed.

The files config_CFD.cfg and config_MSH.cfg are generated and are automatically run using SU2_CFD and SU2_MSH respectively when running the python script. I'm not sure what the difference between the two files are and what to do with them. Essentially, I'm confused what step to take after running the python script.

The help and assistance would be very much appreciated! Thank you.

Edit: If I need to be more specific with my problem, please let me know. I really need this problem fixed for my project to progress. Thank you.

Hi!

I was wondering if you made any progress with the mesh adaptation?

Thanks and regards,
Tim
