So, I've looked through the unsteady simulation test cases, not found any real documentation, and I still have a number of questions, hoping someone here can set the record straight for me.
For one, it seems like the UNST_RESTART_ITER variable is simply for standard TIME_STEPPING to specify an iteration number within the EXT_ITER to restart on? For example, if I set EXT_ITER to 5000 and UNS_RESTART_ITER to 500, it will automatically restart the flow at EXT_ITER 500 each time? More importantly, for dual time step solutions, I'm confused about what the actual roles of the UNST_TIMESTEP, UNST_TIME, and EXT_ITER in the context of unsteady flows are. It seems like if I specify a timestep and a number of EXT iterations, then the role of the UNST_TIME is superfluous? Vis versa, if I specify a timestep and a time, what is the role of the Ext iterations? Finally, what is the role of the regular CFL_NUMBER in an unsteady case? Is it still present (and possibly adapting) or is it completely thrown out in favor of a possible UNST_CFL_NUMBER ? Sorry for the list, but thanks for all your help ahead of time. |
