Hello!

I am solving for axisymmetric flow using 2D grid with four boundaries: inflow, outflow, wall and symmetry. 'history.csv' file is being read to find the lift and drag coefficient for the wall boundary.

I also extracted the pressure and grid points from 'flow.vtk' and manually computed the drag coefficient value. What I have concluded is that the drag value mentioned in 'history.csv' is actually for the 2D planar body even though the flow solved is axisymmetric.

Has anybody else tried it? I want to confirm that this is in fact the case.

Thank you!

In SU2, the 2-D section area is used for the 2-D problem. The areas must be specified by the user. Even for an axi-symmetric problem, the area specified will be the area used by SU2 to calculate the coefficient outputs.

I am talking about the area on which the pressure is integrated not the area value used for non dimensionalization.

Thank You.

Right. SU2 only knows the area in the mesh. It is not creating a 3-D area due to the axi-symmetric boundary condition.
