Hey guys,
I'm running a calculation in SU2 in Parallel mode and is a Three dimensional problem with the below info. 12836848 interior elements (12.8 million cells) 12836848 tetrahedra. 2229436 points. After running 4701 iterations successfully, the process stopped without normal exit. And the error file having 'Traceback(most recent call list)' displays the below error: SU2 process returned error '1' MPI: MPI_COMM_WORLD rank 0 has terminated without calling MPI_Finalize() MPI: aborting job MPI: Received signal 9 I'm missing the output file Surface_flow.dat file after completing the calculation. More Details: Mesh format: .su2 (exported from Pointwise) Scheme used: JST Mach no.: 1.2 AoA: 0 degrees Can somebody help me, as I'm new to SU2 and don't know much about it. Thanks in advance |

Based on your description, it sounds like SU2 exited unusually - for example, the solution may have diverged. You may be able to find out what went wrong by looking at the history file and by looking further back in the output. The error you posted only tells us that SU2 failed - exactly how it failed is usually output as well. Using the restart files: by copying restart_flow.dat to solution_flow.dat (or whatever file name is indicated in the config file), you can a) restart the solution from the last point that the restart data was saved or b) run SU2_SOL to produce the flow.dat and surface_flow.dat files using the restart data, which will show you what was happening at that point in the solution. |

I drew the plots for to check the convergence from the history.plt file, and for my surprise, the solution has converged at 1500 iterations itself.
I also did RESTART SOL step and executed, again the calculations stopped abruptly at 4700 iterations And i tried by changing the command parallel_computation.py to SU2_SOL.cfg in the phBash file, but again I ended up with same problem.. Alternative method followed: Since the solution was converged at 1500 iterations only, I reduced the Total Number of Iterations to 4000. And luckily the SU2 did exit successfully. And I got the Surface_Flow.dat file too. |
