Dear all,
I can't seem te find a conclusive awnser (maybe there is none), but what is the current state of implementation of the Langtry and Menter transition model based on the SST turbulence model? I saw that in the newer version there're traces of the model ("KIND_TRANS_MODEL=LM in the config reader), however it seems to diverge very rapidly. Before I start trying with a load of meshes, can somebody tell me if they had succes with SU2 and Langtry and Menter? Thank you for your responses! Wouter |

Short answer is no. I emailed the guy working specifically on that particular portion of the code and he said he was having some difficulties with it.
I was trying to run it v3.2.5, not sure what version you're using. On my case it wouldn't even start the simulation; I didn't even get to diverging results. |

Thank you for your reply! I have used the brach: "transition-SST" from github. The transition model used in the current main branch is based on SA and I don't think anybody has the intention of finishing it (please correct me if I am wrong).
I made a location based "transition" simply putting the turbulent viscoscity to zero before a certain value of x. This only works in simple geometries, and even then is not really a good method. I am trying to implement the original LM model myself, but I am afraid it will be out of my grasp. |
