Hello
We have tried running SU2 simulations in parallel. After few iterations, it gives out the following error message. What is the possible reason and solution to this? This happens even with the default test cases also. The same files are working well in series mode. The error image is availabe here

Hi Saitej09,

Would you mind creating a text file of what appears on your screen so we can have a better idea of what is generating the error you describe?

You can create a file directly from your command line by adding:

> outputfilename.txt &

After your usual command to run SU2 in the same line. Keep in mind that this will take all the output to the screen and send it to the file so if you want to track it you will have to do something like

tail -f outputfile.txt

Cheers,

David

Dear Saitej,

For what I can see in the file you have shared, the simulation is running in parallel just fine, its going unstable and finally producing non-physical results on iteration 86. Its also worth noticing that your residuals are not converging at all. This can be caused by a CFL number being too high or by a less than ideal mesh.
If, as you mention, this case is running fine in series, I would you suggest for you to record the output of such case and compare it with what you are getting in parallel. If it converges in series then reduce the CFL number for the case in parallel and double check your MPI installation.

Hope this helps,

David

Hi

I have attached another output text here. This also ran into an error with out any non-physical points. Is their any other reason possible for this issue other than the one you mentioned?

Thanks
Saitej
