Hello all,
I hope someone can help me How can I make skin friction optimization for a 2D airfoil? I wanna select the optimum chord, angles, and radii of the geometry of the airfoil? Also, if someone has explanation for the terms in the optimization cfg files maybe it help me understand Thanks in advance very much |

Hi McAero,
Whilst i am not aware of any specific objective function for CSfx, CSfy etc; a very good place to start would be running the navier-stokes 2D aerofoil optimization testcases included with SU2, since these viscous cases will take into account skin friction drag. you could even compare the results of an Euler (inviscid) and navier-stokes (viscous) optimization with DRAG (CD) as your objective function to investigate the effects of viscosity on the optimization. However, if you want to optimize for CSf only, you will want to start looking at the open-source code to identify where objective functions are specified. then it should be not too difficult to introduce your own objective function.
